Meet the "KAKAKI".

No, it's not the Didgeridoo - that's Australian in Origin.(read about the Didgeridoo here..)

What we see here is the "KAKAKI" ; sort of like the African Cousin to the Aussie Didgeridoo.

Ensembles of horns and trumpets are common all over northern West Africa and North Africa.

The KAKAKI is a three to four metres long metal trumpet used in Hausa traditional ceremonial music.

The Hausa people being the largest ethnic group in the regions of northwestern Nigeria and adjacent southern Niger.

The instrument KAKAKI consists of a straight metal tube formed from two to five sections welded together.

An ancient instrument, the Kakaki's sound is associated with royalty and it is only played at events at the palace of the king or sultan in Hausa societies.
